DR. TAKAAKI ARAKAWA
FAIRFIELD RESOURCES INTERNATIONAL, INC.
Takaaki Arakawa joined Fairfield Resources International, Inc. after a 40 year career in the chemical and manufacturing industry, which included service with ARCO Chemical Company's Asia Pacific Division and Mitsui Petrochemical Ind., Ltd. (now Mitsui Chemicals, Inc.).
During his 15 year career with ARCO Chemical Company's Asia Pacific Division, Dr. Arakawa was instrumental in providing leadership for extensive business and commercial development for the company's product sales in the Asia/Pacific region. He developed extensive networks within the Asian industrial community and was a key force for the implementation of licensing, technology acquisition and strategic alliance business arrangements and served as Managing Director for these operations.
Prior to joining ARCO Chemical, Dr. Arakawa was Deputy Director of New Business Development for Mitsui Petrochemical, where he had a 25 year career in various divisions, including research, corporate business and research planning, technology acquisition, technology and commercial development.
Dr. Arakawa also served at the Max Planck Institut Fur Kohlenforschung at Mulheim, Germany, which is famous for the Ziegler Catalyst Research Laboratory, where he worked 3 years on new macromolecule and organo-transition metal complex synthesis for Mitsui Petrochemical. He was key in transferring this technology for a new catalyst system to his company's research laboratory and commercially developing these into extremely high active catalysts for olefin polymerization.
Dr. Arakawa has served as Director for the Japan Chemical Society and as Editing Officer for the Society of Organic Synthetic Chemistry (Japan). He serves as a Consultant for the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in the field of Environmental Remediation. Dr. Arakawa holds B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Osaka University and is the holder of 10 patents and author of 9 publications in chemical technology.
